Believe it or not, The Associate is actually my first John Grisham novel. You can however believe that it will most likely also be my last.
The novel is well paced, builds up the suspense nicely and the plot and main character (though not particular multi-dimensional) seem reasonably credible. For say about the first 350 pages. The final part, the about 120 pages that follow, deteriorates substantially. The compactness of the descriptions, the suspense of the plot, the credibility of the characters, all is gone. It's as if there was a page limit and Grisham noticed after three quarter of the story that he has to come to an end. Very disappointing.
